Four Tools for Caregiver Well-Being During a Pandemic
Panelists:
Leann Thrapp RN, BSN, MA– Vice President Clinical Services, EveryStep
Angela Snyder RN, MSN, MHA, CHPN– Director, Quality Assurance, BAYADA Home Health Care
Description:
The pandemic has activated real and perceived dangers in everyone’s environment. These dangers stimulate the amygdala– the part of the brain designed to deal with distress. The “amygdala highjack” causes “fight, flight, or freeze” behaviors. Unrelenting pandemic stress can accumulate, coalescing into a force that turns the distress switch to the “on” position (just like sudden trauma does). This session provides evidence-based self-compassioning tools that can change personal and professional practice.
