Hospice Nurses Speak: How to Attract Us, Keep Us, Or Lose Us
Moderator: Catherine Dehlin, RN, BSN, CHPN, CHCM, COQS
Description: Learn how to build a strong, stable staffing base and solidify positive patient outcomes and experiences at your hospice agency.
Shelley Henry, RN, CPHRM, CHPN conducted a survey of hospice field nurses across the nation to determine what matters most to them. Where/why are they struggling? Which changes would improve their job satisfaction? The purpose of this survey was to provide a platform for hospice nurses to share their opinions on what they want and need.
The survey’s results can help hospice agencies attract new nurses, retain the good nurses they already have, and reduce expensive turnover. The Amity Group used its insights to develop real solutions for the hospice nurse staffing crisis.
The topics covered include nurse’s opinions in the areas of: documentation, care planning, record keeping, why they stay in their current position, what they look for in a new position, work-life balance and areas they wanted to see changed.
